About Trusted Face

Unlock your Android phone with facial recognition using Trusted Face — the smart lock solution that recognizes only you. Your device becomes truly personal when your face is the key.

Facial recognition unlocking offers a seamless alternative to traditional passcodes and PINs. Instead of typing, simply look at your screen and let your phone authenticate your identity in seconds. Trusted Face integrates with your device's Smart Lock settings, creating a frictionless unlock experience that feels natural and intuitive.

Getting started is straightforward. Access your Smart Lock settings and enable Trusted Face as a trusted agent. You'll be guided through an enrollment process designed for accuracy — choose a well-lit environment with balanced indoor lighting, position your face within the orange oval on your screen, and hold your device steady as the system scans and maps your facial features. When enrollment completes, all indicator dots turn green and a confirmation checkmark appears.

Once activated, Trusted Face works passively in the background. When you pick up your locked phone, a face icon appears at the bottom of your lock screen, indicating that facial recognition is ready to authenticate you. Simply hold your device at eye level and wait for the unlock icon to appear — no additional steps required. The system works seamlessly with your notifications, allowing you to interact with your device while it attempts to match your face without interruption.

You maintain full control over the unlock process. If you'd prefer not to wait for facial recognition, sliding up on your lock screen brings the traditional security input to the fore, letting you unlock manually whenever you choose. This flexibility ensures Trusted Face adapts to your needs rather than forcing a single authentication method.

Note that Trusted Face operates within Android's Smart Lock framework and carries different security considerations than a passcode. It works best when your device is in a trusted location or paired with a trusted device, providing convenient access in familiar environments while maintaining security standards.

Device-specific setup instructions vary slightly across manufacturers. LG G4 users enable Smart Lock within Security settings, Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge users access Secure Lock Settings through Lock Screen and Security, and HTC One M9 users find Smart Lock directly in the Security menu. Regardless of your device model, Trusted Face delivers consistent, face-based unlocking.

Trusted Face transforms your Android phone into a device that recognizes and trusts only you, combining convenience with personalized security.
